KATHERINE
FOX CARR
BIOGRAPHY
Katherine was born in Marion County, Indiana. She graduated from
High School at the age of 16, and then went to Porter College.
She went to work for a stockbroker firm while finishing her studies
at Porter.
Katherine is married to Cornelius Carr and they have four children
and one granddaughter. When her children went to school, she returned
to college, attending Marian College for 4 years, and over time took
classes (including law and government) at IVY Tech and Indiana Central
College.
Katherine taught Religious Education for about 10 years and tutored
reading for several years in the Franklin Township schools. She was
also a parish secretary for 3 years and is a Eucharistic Minister.
Katherine has been an administrative assistant, filing for copyright,
corporation filings, etc. among her many other duties. Besides being
a well known member of the community, and a political activist,
Katherine is a licensed real estate broker and a licensed substitute
teacher. She has been a substitute teacher for Roncalli High School,
Nativity Grade School, and the middle school and grade schools in
Franklin Township. She is a member of St. Patrick Church, a past
vice president of the Marion County Sheriff's Citizens Alumni
Association, a past vice president of the women's club. She is a
member of Ladies AOH. She also belongs to the American Legion
Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, as well as
various other clubs.
Her husband, Cornelius, worked many years for Conrail! and is a member
of TWU International. He is also a Vietnam vet with ten years of
military service, belongs to the American Legion, and has lifetime
memberships in the VFW and DAV.
Katherine has worked in politics as a secretary for a state campaign,
has put on a small campaign from collecting signatures for the ballot
through the election, etc. She has campaigned for local candidates
passing out literature for judges and other candidates, knocking on
doors for candidates and asking people to vote for them as well as
putting signs in yards for them.
She has signed up to run again because she believes in perseverance
and recognizes the gains she has made and is still making.
