THE ISSUES

Indiana's 5th District needs representation of all the people, not just millionaires and corporations, and we need representation that provides strong moral leadership that we and our children can look up to and be proud of.

Keep in mind that my opponent is a millionaire, and will not be affected by cuts in Social Security and Medicare. He was enriched greatly by the so-called "tax cuts" recently passed. Jobs being outsourced overseas doesn't affect him, unless he happens to own stock in a multi-national corporation that gains profits by using cheap overseas labor.

My husband and I, on the other hand, are middle-class retirees on a fixed income. We have worked hard our whole life, participated in our local communities and church, and understand first-hand the problems facing the average American.

In 2006, we are confronted with many issues vital to the future of the country. With the largest job losses since the Great Depression, a runaway budget deficit which threatens to destroy decades of economic progress, and many in government attempting to trample basic rights laid out by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, it is vital to elect candidates who are committed to fiscal responsibilty, committed to responsible stewardship of our resources, and unfailingly committed to the principles that this country has stood for for over 200 years.
